It's never a good idea to argue with someone who disagrees with you. Rather, you need to agree with them and work together to achieve your goals.
Argumentation is one of the methods of persuading people. By engaging in discussion with someone you may be able to get them to see things your way. If they think differently to you then they may even open up and start to appreciate the virtues of your ideas. In many cases arguments can get pretty heated and get out of hand. The person being discussed or the other party will usually try to defend their position or tactic and if they are unable to do so, the person on the receiving end of the argument will try to defend theirs. This makes for a very heated debate. At some point the debate will become so heated that the person on the receiving end may stop listening because of the constant interruption. They may get annoyed and come back at the other party with a vengeance. And the initial argument may not have ended. The fight will continue, bringing up previous points and continuing to argue. The problem with this is that most people who engage in argument with someone from home have never been in a room full of people before. They may not know how to disengage or maintain eye contact with someone they have never spoken to before. You don't want to get into an argument with someone you just met so keep things calm. A successful argument is one that can be worked on by both parties. So the argumentative topics of debate can be about anything, any topic that's not a serious one. If you're in the military, talk about what it was like as a solider or vet, or if you are facing foreclosure, discuss the pros and cons of your loan options. Discussion allows everyone to feel heard and have their thoughts listened to. If there are no real arguments then you're able to avoid doing the conversation all over again. If you're debating with a stranger then you can start the discussion at any time. Once you get started and the discussion has been worked out, you're going to find that most argumentative topics are going to be solved.
